Robinson AD Group (R.A.G.) Events' Producer literarywalk@hotmail.com Erle Stanley Gardner Festival. ![]() Erle Stanley Gardner This event will honor one of America's great authors. One of the most prolific and respected men of the 20th century. He was much more than a simple
writer of fiction. He was an accomplished lawyer, advocate of legal reform, spokesman for the abolition of capital
punishment, head of the 'Court of last Resort', outspoken in his view that prisons were the breeding grounds for crime, and a dabbler in such diverse areas as archery hunting, archaeology, and photography. Gardner is best known for his many novels featuring 'Perry Mason'. Many believe 'Perry Mason' is a rose-colored version of Gardner himself. There, however, are those who are unaware of his many other works, writing, and interests. During his life, he wrote over 150 books. He managed to pen thousands of short stories - everything from adventuresome tales to classic westerns including a few science fiction stories. He became best known because of the classic Perry Mason TV show starring Raymond Burr. This was no accident and few realize that Gardner re-wrote and made additions to every script in the original one hour TV show. Now, with the death of Mr. Burr, the shows are seen less and less. It is for this reason a festival marking the many accomplishments of Erle Stanley Gardner is needed.
