  • What is Literary Walkette?

Literary Walkette, the organization, the web site and the mission, please see About Us. Erle Stanley Gardner Festival, please see our home page.

    Literary Walkette the Web Site:

Literary Walkette's database is comprised of carefully selected publications from generally lesser known authors. We choose books from a wide variety of genre. Many are books on subjects that may not be popular. People visit Literary Walkette to view our author's works. There are reviews, summaries and author biographies, plus author's interviews and media events.

  • What sort of person enjoys Literary Walkette?

The people who most enjoy Literary Walkette are those readers who read a broad range of books from multiple genres. If you enjoy keeping in touch with what's new across a variety of subject areas and you wish to be entertained, informed and educated, Literary Walkette is the place for you.

The typical Literary Walkette visitor generally reads any of a variety of books, and often may be reading one or more books on a regular basis. We believe them to be relatively sophisticated readers who like to explore new and exciting ventures.

  • First time visitor - How do I navigate this site?

We suggest you browse the categories. You'll find a link to browse by category on the right of every page. Click on any of these categories and you'll see Titles and Authors, Click on any Author name to view all of their current or future works and a summary of the titles that interest you, and summaries of the author's four most recent books.

    Good starting points are:

  • How do I buy a book at Literary Walkette?

Literary Walkette is not a bookstore, therefore, we do not sell books. We do provide links to sites where our authors' works may be purchased. We encourage you to first shop at and support your local neighborhood bookstore. If you can order through your local library, try that as a second option.

For your convenience, you'll find links from each web page to the Amazon.com book store. Any affiliate commissions received from Amazon.com will be donated to literacy programs we promote.

  • How do I contact Literary Walkette?

Please click here to go to a page with full contact information.

  • How do you decide which books to list?

We select books from a wide variety of genres with an emphasis on books new to the USA marketplace and that are entertaining, educational and informative.

We do not select books on popularity or the current bestseller lists.

The fun part of running a site such as Literary Walkette is there's an inexhaustible wealth of excellent new books and we often get to see them first. We select the books that we think look most interesting and attempt to maintain a balance from a variety of genres.

  • I am the publisher, author, agent or publicist of a book.  How do I submit it to Literary Walkette?

Click here to read the submission guidelines.  If you've already read this page up to this point, feel free to skip through the background information that you'll find on the submission page.

  • Why don't you give more information about the books?

There is simply to much data for a small site to process. Most books are published in a number of formats - hard cover, paperback, audio, e-book. There may be 20 or more editions - you get the idea.

  • Can my children browse your site safely?   Do you have content that I'm going to find offensive?

Yes, given they confine their search and reading to the Categories intended for children. However, depending on your viewpoint, you may have cause for concern. We try to keep sexually explicit content to an absolute minimum. It is possible something may have slipped through the cracks. If so feel free to contact us and we will review the work again.

Additionally, depending on your viewpoint, you may find the content of some books to be against your beliefs.

Generally your child cannot be at any greater risk at Literary Walkette than they would be if you gave them free reign to browse in the local bookstore or library. Many of our volunteers are grand parents and endeavor to make the Children sections as child proof as possible.

  • How do I send a letter to an author?

Many people ask how to contact a particular author. We suggest you always contact the publisher who should be able to forward mail to an author. You should address your letter to the author, in care of the publisher; e.g.

The publisher's name and address are usually printed somewhere on the first pages of the book.  If you don't have a copy handy, look up the book at an Internet bookstore to find the publisher's name.

To find the mailing address visit The Literary Market Place.   You do have to register to use the service - but this is free service and takes only a moment.  Alternatively, if you know the city that the publisher is in you can use one of the many Yellow Page or phone number look up sites.

  • Do you store private information about me?

    No, please see Privacy Statement

    'cookie's
At this time Literary Walkette does not use a 'cookie'*.  However, at some point in the future it is likely that we may have to start doing so in order to provide advertisers with more exact numbers of visitors.  The reason for this is that without a ''cookie'' my web server can only estimate when one visitor has left Literary Walkette and another has arrived - 'cookie's allow for the collection of more accurate record keeping and advertisers require, hits, hits, hits..

If Literary Walkette does use a 'cookie' it would be the simplest form of 'cookie' designed to track only the number of visitors arriving at and leaving Literary Walkette.  Such a 'cookie' could not and would not collect any personal information about you because you have not provided any for the 'cookie' to store!

Most third party advertisers at Literary Walkette do use 'cookie's to track visitors.  To obtain information on these you would have to contact the individual advertisers.

*'cookie's are small pieces of data that are sent by the website and stored on your computer - usually in a folder called 'cookie's ! 'cookie's allow the website to personalize the experience for the individual visitor. For example if a website greets you by name it is because:

1.) you provided your name on a previous visit and

2.) you have one or more 'cookie's stored on your computer from that website.

'cookie's 'remember information about your previous visits to the site. This allows sites to recommend particular information to you and even tell you what's new since you last visited. They are also useful for remembering user names and passwords, or for offering 'hints' when you forget your password! 'cookie's contain only information that visitors volunteer, and they do not have the capability of infiltrating a user's hard drive and sneaking away with personal information.

If you are concerned about 'cookie's you will usually find them stored in the 'Windows' folder of your hard drive in a sub folder called 'cookie's . By using Windows Explorer you can open this folder and delete some or all of these 'cookie's at any time.
